Maile Jay

July 1st 2008, We woke up as usual went to the 5th street parade with Avery and met Gramma Debbie there. Borring parade filled with nothing but advertising but Avery enjoyed herself.
We parked pretty far and walked down, and had no chairs so we stood the whole 2 hours! Must have been what done it ;)
Parades over so we run some errands around town then head home for lunch and naps.
at around 1:45 I went to use the bathroom and had tonnes of bloody show- alot! I knew the cramping I had been having was for a reason! Needless to say the heart started pounding and I was NERVOUS! I have been through this before and I suddenly remembered, I knew there was no turing back, I was getting what I wished for. I ran out to tell Jason and then back in the house to call the Midwives office, as I had an appointment scheduled for 2:30 that day. After talking to the midwife and not yet having contractions we decided to drob Avery off to her Gramma and go into Courtenay to meet Deborah. I was a bit upset because Sadie was in a birth at the time and looking at my history I would probably have a fast labour and miss her. Oh well suddenly Deborah seemed perfect and loving, just what I wanted.
AT the appointment Deborah told me I was 2-3cm and thinned and ready. So she said we will have a July 1st baby. And she called Sadie who just got out of the ER and she said she will not miss my birth. I was relieved! Since Sadie delivered Avery and we have spent numerous personal camping trips together I really wanted her there on many levels.
So off we go, we decided to go to Quality Foods to get some snacks and stuff to send with Avery for her first overnight without me! As we were getting out of the car to go in the store first contraction, OUCH! Thats what they feel like again! This time its about 3:30pm.
We shopped and contractions were 20 min apart. We went home packed and headed to Jasons moms to visit with Avery and sit at the beach. I hiked down the steep back to the beach and the contractions quiclky became 15 minutes apart and stronger. We decided to head home as they were 8 minutes apart and it was 5:00 and we needed to call Deborah. We got home I called her and headed into the shower. She arrived at 6:20pm after we decided there was no super rush they were still short contractions and I was talking through them. She check my dialation right away to report to Sadie and I was 6-7cm with a bulging bag of waters as she put it.
Jason was cleaning the house and I was preparing to give birth. I was looking for mental strength to get through this as the back labour sets in. For me I find it easier to just breath and cope. I keep to myself mostly and just breathe. Deborah is at the house now and frantically running all kinds of equiptment up the stairs into the bedroom as she is realizing I am contacting really intensly every 30 seconds or so. Few contractions later with the help from Jason, the best partner ever! I got through them and got onto the bed as I was feeling that downward pressure.
I pushed through a few contractions it felt so good and Deboarah was still setting up checking baby heatrate everything was great. Sadie arrived! She got on the bed with us and then a contaction came Deborah informed her I pushed a little throught the last few and Sadie says, ok well here comes the head! Jason at this point was behind me and I was laying onto him, My foot was on Sadie's shoulder like Avery's birth and We birthed our baby! I helped guide her head out and Jason and I both did the shoulders and brought her to my chest. I focused on every moment there was no pain it was beautiful. She came out perfectly giving me no stitches and she didn't even cry. She was born at 7:15pm, It was the most beautiful birth better than I have ever imagined. Jason is still glowing from it, it was so intimate and full of love. We cuddled on the bed together Jason not even wearing a shirt me in Kristinas beautiful top and a skirt! A skirt! well it worked, and we brought our little girl here. She was nameless for a few days but we decided to name her the name we loved after Avery was born. Maile and Jay after her Daddy's nickname. She was 8lbs 6oz lots of hair(well less than Avery) and 19inches long. Blue eyes like her sister and still to this day she is the most mellow easy angel baby. She sleeps for 4-6 hours at night and nurses like a champ. We are so inlove and now our family feels complete!

Alot on the Go!

  • Little Me Store Opening a GREAT success! It's really a fun place to be!
I'm now 37 weeks Pregnant! Holy crap! Felling good, baby has dropped, still on the homebirth option and we are felling really excited about it. Actually as we were driving from Tofino this weekend I finally felt the strength I need to give birth. I was worried I was going to be a mess, not the strong and focused person I was delivering Avery. Happy about that, now just to iron out a few details and get all the birthing stuff ready
  • Loving our new house, Avery is really into all the Caterpillars and Deer and Birds. We have a resident momma robin that lives under our deck, we got to watch her hatch her eggs and the babies take their first flight from the nest. Amazing! Having all the space sure makes life easier! Update on Avery, she has night trained herself out of diapers..bitter sweet for momma. She is also so grown up, wants to do everything on her own, and she pretty much can do everything on her own. She is fluent in English now and from hanging at the beach woth Germans this weekend she has taking a liking to imitating that language, very funny! Another thing she is so funny! Definately a Wesner.

We bought a business! Congrats to Kristina and I, we finally did it, after years of dreaming

Oh yeah and moving, 2 weeks today, kinda have alot going on these days.
Maybe we should get a puppy?
Avery I want to send a message to you my sweet girl, thanks for being so helpful in many ways,
you make life decisions so much easier knowing that you are happy and confident. And thank you for speaking so well, I love having a buddy to hang out with. Daddy really loves it when he comes home from work and you run up and ask him "So, what did you do today?" We just love it! And I have to say Im a bit worried that when our new baby comes out you might be a bit upset that your sister in your own belly has not come out. We try not to talk about it, but when you say things like, "Daddy hold my water bottle, its too heavy I have my sister in my belly" We can't help but laugh and embrace your innocentness, love it!

Now off to the Adventure....

24 Weeks

"Your baby is still on the skinny side with no body fat but his brain is growing rapidly and he's starting to fill the space in your uterus. By now, you probably have a definite "pregnant" shape and the linea nigra, a dark line of pigmentation, may appear down the centre of your abdomen. Your baby's taste buds are also forming and, believe it or not, his sweet tooth. Could that explain your sudden craving for doughnuts? No one knows for sure but it's a good excuse, next time you find yourself visiting the bakery." babycenter.co.uk

We were in Superstore on Sunday, Avery saw a little baby and with a big smile she said
"I'm gonna have a baby too, its in Mommy's belly!" "I'm so lucky!"
I looked at the other mom with tears in my eyes(pregnancy hormones)
This little girl makes me so proud!

On the other end of the 2 year old spectrum, we were having supper and Avery was banging her fork on her plate. Jason and I both explained to her we didn't enjoy that noise at the supper table. So she's 2 and she kept doing it, while grinning, she looks up at us and says "What's wrong everybody!" Seriously, with a matter of fact tone. We looked at eachother burst out laughing and unanimously decided, we are in trouble!
